Who we are

The Privacy Engineering Research Group of the University of Valladolid is responsible for putting engineering techniques at the service of privacy protection that we have as citizens. Cybersecurity provides techniques that protect these data, as well as the systems and networks where they are stored or through which they transit.

Our research group works on the App-PI Project (App Privacy Impact). In this project we use technology to provide the user with a tool to have the ability to make a decision before installing anything on their Smartphone and we provide application developers and other advanced users with tools to better ensure privacy in their developments.

Our project is integrated by 12 researchers and is part of the agreement signed between UVa and INCIBE (National Institute of Cybersecurity) for the promotion of strategic cybersecurity projects in Spain. In addition, we give workshops for university students and any public in order to help these people to understand and protect their privacy when using mobile apps.

As part of the App-PI Project, we have developed the APK Falcon application, which aims to help users make better decisions about mobile application permissions. You can download the application from the Google Play Store here.
