Defense of the TFG ‘DataSecOnt’ by Alejandra Gavino-Dias González

Alejandra Gavino-Dias González has defended her final degree project entitled DataSecOnt: Ontology for Google Play Data Security, tutorised by M. Mercedes Martínez González, a member of the Privacy Engineering Research Group (IngPriv) at the School of Computer Engineering at the University of Valladolid.

Have you ever checked the Data Security section of Google Play before installing an app?

Have you ever wondered if all developers use the same language to explain how they collect and share your data?

In her work, Alejandra has addressed these and other issues and conducted an exhaustive study of Google Play’s official documentation. She has also created a formal ontology that collects and organizes the vocabulary used in the data security section. This ontology, called DataSecOnt, allows knowledge related to data management in mobile apps to be represented in a structured and understandable way.

DataSecOnt is characterized by:

• ✅Being platform and software independent.

• ✅Facilitating the semantic integration of information.

• ✅Being formalized in OWL (Ontology Web Language), an interoperable standard language.

Thanks to this development, a further step has been taken in understanding, analyzing, and automating the processing of information that users receive about their privacy on Google Play.

Congratulations, Alejandra, on your great work and your contribution to the advancement of digital privacy!
