As part of the X LexDatum 2024 Conference, held at the School of Computer Engineering at the University of Valladolid, we were joined by Ángela García Valdés, Head of Coordination for the 017 Cybersecurity Helpline at the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE).
In her speech, Ángela explained how this free and confidential service has established itself as a ‘cybersecurity first aid kit’, offering support both in resolving incidents and in preventing risks to citizens’ privacy and digital security.
017 is a helpline service available every day of the year, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., which anyone can call if they have questions, incidents or threats related to the Internet and mobile applications.
During her talk, Angela shared:
✅ Real cases in which minors were victims of attacks on their privacy and how the 017 helpline helped them resolve them.
✅ The different consultation channels offered by INCIBE to protect personal data and digital rights.
✅ The importance of education and awareness, especially among minors, to promote responsible and safe use of the internet.
He also highlighted the work of the multidisciplinary team at 017, a team in which technical experts and specialised psychologists work together to deal with sensitive situations with an approach that combines technological and human dimensions.
Below is a brief video summary of his presentation.
