Quiliano Isaac Moro Sancho

I received my Licentiate degree in Physical Sciences in 1989 and my PhD degree from the University of Valladolid in 2000 with a paper applying pattern recognition techniques to time series prediction problems with different machine learning paradigms and under a modular and hierarchical scheme, combining different learning strategies (supervised and unsupervised, including also recurrent neural networks). Subsequently, I used similar techniques in problems related to biometric identification, where a multimodal approach has been adopted.

Thereafter, I continued to apply a more formal approach to combine base classifiers in such classification and/or regression tasks involving time series and large data sets such as those related to the human genome.

Nowadays my research is more oriented to Machine Learning with large datasets under a Big Data technologies approach. As for the work in the App-Pi group, a Big Data approach can be given, which will focus on the study of the temporal evolution of the needs of the permissions required by the applications that users download on their mobile devices, being able to relate this to the risks of misuse of private/personal data, warning users of these circumstances, and offering developers strategies and methodologies that make their applications more secure.
