Research stay at the University of Luxembourg: collaboration between the IngPriv Group and the TruX Group

During October 2025, Alejandro Pérez de la Fuente, a member of the Privacy Engineering Research Group (IngPriv) at the School of Computer Engineering at the University of Valladolid, conducted a research stay at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) at the University of Luxembourg.

The purpose of this visit was to explore synergies and avenues for collaboration with the Trustworthy Software Engineering (TruX) Research Group, a team specialising in the development of innovative solutions to improve software reliability, security and transparency through advanced research in software security, debugging and code mining.

During his stay, Alejandro presented the App-PI Project (App Privacy Impact) and outlined the main lines of work of the IngPriv Group, which focus on studying the impact of privacy and security on the use of mobile applications, as well as the various tools developed within the framework of the project:

  • APK Falcon, an application for auditing the privacy and permissions of mobile apps.
  • App-PIMD, a repository that provides centralised storage of mobile application metadata.
  • The Privacy Impact Metric (PIM), designed to estimate the impact an app has on user privacy.

In addition, Alejandro shared the group’s progress in cybersecurity education and awareness, highlighting digital privacy workshops aimed at young people and non-expert users, as well as transfer and training activities for developers.

The collaboration with the TruX Group reinforces the IngPriv Group’s profile and opens up new lines of work and commitment to applied research, scientific cooperation and innovation in the field of privacy and cybersecurity.

We would like to thank all the members of the TruX Group for their collaboration and warm welcome.
